Red, running, swollen eyes can be much more than just allergies.
Both cats and dogs commonly contract illnesses that affect their vision and comfort. Some of these respond perfectly well to medications, others may even require surgery. Some of the eye problems we see routinely are:
- Conjunctivitis (red, swollen eyes)
- Corneal ulceration (scratch on eye)
- Keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eye)
- Eyelid protrusion (cherry eye)
- Glaucoma (increased eye pressure)
- Exophthalmos or proptosed globe (bulging or dislocated eye)
- Eyelid growths or tumors
